Mauritius targets 10% growth on the Italian market
For the 10th consecutive year, MTPA – Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority - chooses the authoritative stage of Bit - International Tourism Exchange to announce its objective for 2010 for Italian market: 10% growth
“2010 target is to reach 1 million of international arrivals in Mauritius and it is at the same time a challenge we are ready to deal with. In line with this objective, Mauritius Government has launched the most impressive investment program in terms of infrastructural developments ever developed in the history of the Country with an estimated expense of more than a billion euro. One of the first initiative was the opening of a new passenger terminal on February 15 in Port Louis harbor, which makes Mauritiusthe only cruise hub in Indian Ocean”, declaredXavier Luc Duval, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Leisure and External Communications at BIT.
MTPA (Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority) was in BIT 2010 together with Rodrigues Tourism Office, Air Mauritius, AHRIM (Association Hoteliers Restaurateurs - Ile Maurice), 20° Sud Hotel, Aanari Hotel & Spa, Apavou Hotels, Blue Lagoon Beach Hotel, Coquille Bonheur, Evasion Private Villa, Le Grand Bleu Hotel, Intercontinental Mauritius, Le Manoir Rodrigues, Naїade Resorts, Starwood Hotels with Le Méridien and The Grand Mauritian; the DMC Blu Viva Destinations, Incentive Travel, JP Excursion and the Tour Operator Best Tours, Cormorano Viaggi, Hotelplan Italia and Sardinia International.
VPM Duval added that many resources have been assigned to complete the projects already implementedfor the broadening of the international airport to increase its capacity to 4 million passengers per year with the opening of five new terminals. The Government commitment in favor of the tourism industry will be more and more in line with eco projects, a priority on the Minister of Tourism’s agenda.
