Deep Sea Fishing Tournament

Mauritius Island 08-13 February 2010


 

 

Marlin Masters is a beautiful annual Tag & Released fishing tournament which takes place in

Mauritius, on the west and south west coast of the Island, in front of Le Morne and Black River:

the best spots for deep sea fishing in Mauritius and among the best in the world!

 

The Event is being organized by dedicated, passionate and professional fishermen in synergy

with one of the regional leading hotel group in the Indian Ocean, Naïade Resorts. 

 

Marlin Masters is an        International Game Fish Association            Offshore World Championship

Qualifying tournament: the 2010 winning team will participate in the IGFA 2011 Championship!

JP Henry Charters is the number one in deep sea fishing sector in Mauritius, with more than 30

years activities and a solid experience in the organization of international tournaments in

Mauritius

President in 2001 of Le Morne Angler’s Club (the oldest and most dynamic fishing club of the

Indian Ocean inc. 1957), organizer and co-organizer of international and local deep sea fishing

competitions since 1998

 

Fishing Boats

 

Marlin Masters Mauritius makes available to participants the best and fully equipped boats on the

Island. Among others are the Moana fleet with top class 42 feet long boats (beam 13 feet)

powered by twin Caterpillar V8 210 HP.

 

Tournament’s Rules and Regulations – fishing days and programme

 

The tournament will be governed by IGFA Rules.

 

Teams

 

There must be a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 5 Anglers per team.

A Team Captain must be appointed for each team. 

 

Each team will participate in a boat draw for each of the 4 days fishing. Spare boats will be

provided in case of breakdown.

 

Fishing

 

Fishing days (depending weather conditions) have been fixed as follows:

 

Day one / 09.02.10: starts at 06h45 / lines out at 16h00

Day two / 11.02.10: starts at 06h30 / lines out at 16h00

Day three / 12.02.10: starts at 09h00 / lines out at 18h30

Day four / 13.02.10: starts at 06h00 / lines out at 15h30

 

Moon phases February 2010 (New Moon is on 14.02.10)

 

Every fishing day, all lines must be out of the water at the time mentioned above. Should a fish be

hooked after lines out time the entire catch of the day will be disqualified. If a fish is hooked and

reported on the radio before lines out time, no penalty will be imposed. However, the team must

be back at the club's jetty by midnight otherwise the entire catch of the day will be disqualified. On

the last day of fishing all teams must be back at the Club's jetty by 17h00 otherwise the entire

catch of the day will be disqualified. 

 

Notice - bad weather conditions and exceptional situations:

The Organising Committee can change, modify and/or cancel fishing dates in case of bad

weather conditions resulting from cyclones, cyclone alert, strong winds, tidal wave, rough seas,

flooding and any other natural disaster or exceptional situations beyond it’s control, occurring

during period 09.02.10 to 13.02.10 or prior to this period. 

 

Line Test

 

Line class allowed: 80 lb and 50 lb. No point will be awarded for any fish caught on any other line

class. Anglers are allowed to bring their own equipments.

 

 

All strikes must be reported on the Club’s Radio giving:

1. Fish species if known

2. Name of angler

3. Line class

4. Zone in which the fish has been hooked

 

Weigh in

 

Team captains must report to the Weigh Master after docking, with their completed and signed

fish score cards. A signed "Nil" card must be submitted even if no fish was caught or released. 

 

Fish caught and points awarded

 

Points will be awarded pr lb for fish caught in accordance with the following table:

However the Organizing Committee welcomes arrival on the 07.02.10: in case of bad weather

threat, it will then be possible to start fishing earlier during the week.

Last day of fishing

Dinner and Prize Giving around the swimming pool: rejoicing together!

  One economy class return air ticket offered by our Partner for each member of the Team

  Free accommodation offered by Naïade Resorts for 4 members of the Team (on ½ board

basis – 6 nights) for the next edition of Marlin Masters Mauritius

  Invitation to participate to the IGFA Offshore World Championship 2011 (excluding air

transfers and accommodation).

        (Note: accommodation is non cumulative if winner of single event is also member of winning team)
